This Modpack provides a HUGE performance boost comapared to vanilla Minecraft by replacing OpenGL with Vulkan and also adding some useful optimization tewaks.
What even are OpenGL and Vulkan?
OpenGL and Vulkan both are rendering engines. Minecraft currently runs OpenGL, which is anchient and bad. Vulkan is way more modern and optimized, so we use it instead!
Does this change the graphics in any way?
No. This pack was made to improve performance while keeping the vanilla looks.
Isn’t Minecraft also replacing OpenGL?
Yes, Minecraft is going to replace OpenGL this summer. But they haven’t yet, so you may still use this pack!
Does this support shaders?
Sadly not. Iris was made to run with OpenGL.
