Trident Killer for Java

Mod

Makes trident killers work in Java like Bedrock - thrown tridents no longer despawn when stuck in a block, and kills correctly credit the player with XP and loot drops.

Trident Killer for Java 1.0.0

Changelog

In Bedrock Edition, thrown tridents can be used to build automated mob killers — the trident stays permanently in a block and correctly credits kills to the player. In Java Edition this doesn't work because tridents despawn after 60 seconds and lose their kill credit after the first hit.

This mod fixes both issues:

  • Tridents stuck in a block no longer despawn
  • Kill credit, XP, and loot drops are correctly given to the player after each hit

Simply throw a trident into a block, set up pistons to push mobs into it, and it will work indefinitely.

Known Issues

  • This mod does not require both client and server — but it must be installed on the server (or in singleplayer) to work. Client-side installation alone has no effect.
